Abstract
High frequency (HF) radio frequencies (RF) are used to transmit information across long distances and are the primary means of operation for telecommunications, broadcasting, WIFI, etc. RF signal interact with the ionosphere and change the characteristics of the signal. By comparing the signal strength at the point of transmission to that at the point of reception, RF behavior under different atmospheric conditions can be determined. Our goal was to receive the signal of WWV (Broadcast channel transmitting from Boulder, Colorado) at 10MHz. We constructed a magnetic loop antenna that resonates at 10MHz with a bandwidth of +/- 12 KHz.
