Abstract

This project posits that through loanwords, we can gain a better understanding of the relationship between the Basque people and their romance language speaking neighbors. This research also hopes to dispel common misconceptions surrounding the Basque language, emphasizing that what makes it so interesting is not its status as an isolate language, but rather, the fact that its speakers have been able to maintain it for millennia.
